Review and verification policy
Client reviews and employee reviews are OpenDossier's two public review zones. How reviewers are verified, what is shown, how anonymity is protected, how ratings are calculated and how companies respond.
Two zones
Client reviews rate what it is like to buy from a company: quality of delivery, communication, value for money, on-time delivery and support after delivery, plus whether the client would work with them again. Employee reviews rate what it is like to work there: culture and values, work-life balance, management, career opportunities, compensation and benefits, diversity and inclusion, plus recommendation and business outlook.
Verification
Client relationship by contract, invoice, purchase order or a company invitation link; employment by work email, payslip or employment letter. Documents are checked by a moderator and deleted; only the type of verification is kept and shown. Verification confirms the relationship, not the truth of the opinion; both facts are shown.
Licensed and invited reviews
Licensed third-party review data, where used, is labelled with its source and licence. Invited reviews are labelled as invited; companies must invite everyone in a group, and the invitation log is audited.
Ratings
The overall rating is the mean of all eligible verified reviews, unweighted, with the count shown. Dimension ratings are means of the reviews that rated that dimension. No rating is shown below three reviews; no ranking below ten. Reviews older than five years are kept but labelled; trends show 24 months.
Anonymity
Reviewers are never named. Employee reviews are displayed only once a company has five or more; titles are generalised for teams under twenty; dates by month. We do not disclose identities to companies.
Responses and disputes
Companies may respond publicly, once per review, free on every plan. Disputes on factual grounds go to a moderator who did not approve the review, within five business days. Accurate, verified opinions are not removed because a company disagrees; nothing is removed for payment.
Context: the US FTC rule on consumer reviews and testimonials prohibits fake reviews, review suppression and company-controlled review sites; the UK CMA has comparable guidance. Their scope for B2B and employee reviews varies, and we apply their principles to all reviews. Review guidelines.
